Assistant Chief of Police Visits Law Enforcement II Students
Crystal City Police Department Assistant Chief of Police Rafael Perez visited the Law Enforcement II classes. The Law Enforcement II classes were learning about police telecommunications and were introduced to the use of an MDT or a Mobile Data Terminal. A Mobile Data Terminal is a laptop computer used in vehicles, emergency such as police cars, to communicate with the police dispatcher via instant messaging to not tie up the police radio, used to run sensitive personal drivers license and vehicle registration information that the police are required to run during a traffic stop, and used to write various types of police reports. Assistant Chief Perez covered policies and procedures that are implemented and expressed the sensitivity and responsibility that comes with the use of an MDT. A big thank you goes out to Assistant Chief Perez for taking time out of his busy schedule to address the Law Enforcement 2 classes.
