My Thoughts

Having researched everything about the topic, going into it thinking I would not find much, I have found out so much more about what comedy really represents. Comedy is not just any laughing matter; it can be very serious business. The way it can keep people informed and in the loop about matters they maybe did not even know about is very enthusing, and on top of that, the talent that famous comedians possess to keep serious manners serious whilst getting a laugh out of them gets my upmost respect.

Comedy is severely undermined in my eyes today. It is just seen as lackluster entertainment, whether it be modern-day sitcoms, or lacking comedic routines, the comedy everyone is exposed to tends to bore people to sleep (metaphorically speaking). I think if people were to bring back the old and charming styles of yesterday’s times, people will see how valuable it really can be, especially in situations such as this, with modern-day problems. There was so much to offer back then with this kind of thing, and I feel like if we struggle a bit harder, and improve our comedy to be more relevant, yet more smooth, we would be able to replicate the same effect that old comedy had in instances such as wars and propaganda. Whether or not it will happen is unforeseeable, but a dreamer can dream, and a comic can try.
