Cross Country

Javelinas Dominate Eagle Pass Border Bash Cross Country Invitational


The Crystal City Cross Country Teams traveled to Eagle Pass to run in the Border Bash XC Invitational Meet on Saturday, September 10, 2016.  The Varsity Boys repeated as champions in their division. Leading the way for the Javelinas was Gabriel Magana placing 2nd with a time of 16:58, placing 3rd was Edward Serna, finishing 10th was Moses Ybarra, Emi Contreras placed 11th, finishing 12th was Joey Soria, in 13th place was Johnny Hernandez, Pedro Tapia finished 14th, and Robert Flores placed 21st out of the field of 100 runners. The team continues to improve every week and have their eyes set on advancing to the State Championships.  Placing 2nd in their division the Lady Javelinas had a strong outing and also have their eyes set on advancing to the State Championships.  Leading the team was Nayeli Garcia placing 6th , Joanna Arredondo placed 7th,  Klaudia Contreras finished 8th, placing 11th Brea Eguia, finishing 13th Justine Morales, Desirae Gonzales placed 20th and Alicia Magana 21st place out of a field of 100 runners.  The JV Teams had a strong outing.  Representing the teams were Silverio Mendoza, Bryan Mena, Vicente Mata, Isreal Munoz, Adrian Rivera, Marinela Ortiz and Kassandra Wiles.  Also participating in the Border Bash were the Junior High Teams.  The 8th grade boy’s team placed 2nd in their division.  Leading the team was Frankie Arenas placing 1st, 2nd place was Jesse Jay Ruiz, Javier Martinez placing 5th, Rene Ramirez placed 15th, Kevin Mendoza placing 17th, Robert Jay Perez finished 20th, and Christian Tafoya21st.  Also participating were Martin Lopez, Virgilio Luna, Jose Ortiz and Marco Moncada.  The 8th grade girls were represented by Nayeli Moncada, Jocelyn Garcia, Victoria Rivera, Rosio Roiz, Alina Estrada, Ileana Flores, Katherine Ruiz, Jillain Rios, and Analicia Granados.  The 7th grade team’s medalists were Jonas Tapia, Nathan Aguilar, Gabriella Roiz and Destiny Mendoza, also running Jeremy Granados, Veronica Martinez and Madison Acosta.  Thanks to the parents and supporters that followed the team to Eagle Pass.  The next Varsity XC Meet will be in Corpus Christi on Saturday, September 17, 2016 the JV and JH will have an open week.
